get-ting to knooooowwww yoooooooouu...

another evening's practise done tonight - but progress - seem to have found where my mouth is meant to be - so I'm beginning to be able to find a sound by judgement over luck, rather than the other way around!

Made a discovery in relation to the use of the sides of my lips - which is all very exciting to me, but not very easy to describe, especially not f2f and in text-form rather than in real-time real-audio verbiage!
It's a little bit like saying "Küche" in German.

funny, getting to know a new instrument - not just a new instrument of the type that you already play, but a totally new one. It's odd not knowing what to do to coax, prod, force and stroke what you want out of it. There's some of that when I try another viola, violin, recorder, or harp - but I know where their preferences and weaknesses lie - how their type likes to be flattered and how they tend to want to be treated - but now, although I'm communicating with it, I'm communicating as a Terran to a Vulcan.

Found the picture below on Sax on the Web (click the picture, I've very cleverly linked to SotW through it!) - a rather good emporium of saxophology!
